One major theme about the courts is the refrain “I didn’t get to tell my side.”
Having learned from two decades in law enforcement and nearly two decades as an attorney that citizens appearing before the court primarily want, no matter the outcome, to feel like they were able to present their side and that their views were heard and considered, whether voiced through counsel or themselves. Michael J. Sullinger has developed a unique insight into that desire and will strive to ensure that all appearing before him will leave the courtroom, knowing that they, and their view of the matter, were heard and considered.
Many attorneys practice for years in specific legal niches, limiting their practices to two or three areas of representation.
Michael J Sullinger has for nearly two decades, practiced in a variety of areas of representation, including but not limited to, criminal matters, general civil litigation, personal injury, business litigation, probate matters, dependency matters, juvenile delinquency matters, Securities and Exchange Commission filings, Stock issuances and closings, Corporate representation, Bankruptcy representation debtor and creditor, Federal criminal matters, and as a court appointed arbitrator.
Combined with two decades as a professional peace officer, it is clear that Michael J. Sullinger has seen and experienced the justice system from many and varied perspectives that sets him apart from other candidates.
Michael J. Sullinger is the candidate that is prepared to take the bench now.
Government is in a time of shrinking budgets, a necessity, requiring examination and re-examination of the efficiency at which government services operate. This is as true of the judicial system as it is of all governmental services.
If you were to visit any courtroom and sit in on any non-trial calendar, you, as a casual on-looker might leave wondering if anything ever gets done, as you hear case after case being continued to a new date.
Michael J. Sullinger, appears in court on matters at least three days each week for non-trial appearances and is keenly aware of this perception. Court matters need to be timely moved to disposition as each handling of the files involves staff time and expense, not to mention time and expense associated with auxiliary court staff.
Michael J. Sullinger will examine and re-examine the practices of his Court and make adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency and maximum savings. Michael J. Sullinger will hold those appearing before him, counsel and parties alike, accountable for moving their matters to disposition as quickly and efficiently as possible while ensuring due process for all is preserved.
